NOT true.

Radiology techs (everyone in the department even) wear radiation detectors that they have to turn in every week that monitor how much exposure they have to radiation. It's a state and federal law. Anything above a limit and they are yanked out of their job and the hospital is fined, big-time.

The walls of the rooms are lined with lead... the aprons are lead lined. It's all good.

Don't worry about it.

You can hardly look at ONE person, radiologist or not, and say that because she had difficulty conceiving, it must be due to her job. I have several acquaintances who are unable to get pregnant - is it because one of them works at Nordstrom's, another used to work for phone.com, and another is a pediatrician? Of course not.

Radiology technicians do get exposed to higher levels of radiation, but they are also hide behind lead screens and wear lead aprons. They also wear lead over the key area of the body required to procreate. He'll be fine, as long as he takes the appropriate precautions.

Also, there is no radiation involved in MRI. Just a really, really, really powerful magnet.

umm unless he's gonna take every x-ray himself and bombard himself with radiation he'll be fine. they leave the room or go behind shields to protect themselves. for some not having a child is a choice because they are so dedicated to their work or they don't want them.

PS MRI is a giant magnet so unless he's injecting himself with dye there is less risk of exposure

They wear protective garments and shields, in fact they have to wear them. Just like when you get your teeth x-rayed, a woman wears the shield over her lower abdomen for protection from the rays.
