Gloria, what types of problems could it indicate? I used to never have allergies. Then I had a problem which caused autoimmune issues and everytime I get a cold, I will load up on C & Zinc, win the battle but stop it in my nose and it never seems to go further or clear up. It seems antibiotics always work. I had a cold in early June. My nose is still stuffed up. My sinuses hurt but I think it is just allergies? I have constant flem in my throat that won't clear. It can make me panic when I can't get it out and I feel like I am suffocating with this and the nose all stuffed up. I have tried antihistamine/decongestant combos and they have little effect. I have tried the water-pik nasal irrigator every day and no help. Does anybody know how you irrigate your throat with the water-pik device or if it helps? I tried using the regular water-pik tip and it just makes you gag and doesn't help. I have read that gargling is not effective and you need to irrigate but I do not know how. Anybody have any other ideas?

Yes it will not do you any harm. If you have a sore throat or an infection it is recommended that you gargle with salt water. Do not drink it though - just gargle and spit it out!

I have the same problem and bought an inhaler thingy from boots. You fill it with hot water and add menthol to it and then attach this funny nozzle thing to it, and then inhale through your mouth and nose. Its great as it clears the sinuses as well.

I wouldn't have thought it would be any more effecitve than using plain water - and it will taste horrid. Go to the chemist and get some cough medicine for flemmy coughs.

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. If you suffer with this problem a lot then you must see your GP, it may a sign of something more serious.
