There is absolutely no reason why you two can't have children if he becomes a radiology tech. Yes, radiation is harmful, but direct exposure to radiology techs and radiology docs is minuscule because of lead shielding and being out of the x-ray room when the studies are done. Most x-rays are taken when the tech is out of the room. He or she gives verbal instructions to the patient as the exposure is made. All CAT scans are also done with the technologist out of the room. MRI's are no danger because images are made by using magnetic fields and radio waves, not x-rays. The times when the technologist has to be in the room with the patient, he or she will be wearing full body length lead aprons.

NOT true.
Radiology techs (everyone in the department even) wear radiation detectors that they have to turn in every week that monitor how much exposure they have to radiation. It's a state and federal law. Anything above a limit and they are yanked out of their job and the hospital is fined, big-time.
The walls of the rooms are lined with lead... the aprons are lead lined. It's all good.
Don't worry about it.

You can still have children. Radiologists have to wear protective garments at work, all the time. They turn them in at the end of the week, to make sure they didn't get overexposed. If they have, then the hospital has to do something about it. But Radiologists can have children.

Freeze a bunch of his sperm first (in a sperm bank, not in your freezer!) and then let him get the job he wants. Rad techs make over $20 per hour, so he will be able to support you and your children.
Most techs are quite careful, though. They are not in the room when the xray is firing, so he should be safe.
Talk to the tech you know and ask why no kids? maybe they decided not to and paid for sterilization. lots of people do that.

If radiologists could not have children due to radiation exposure, no one would want to be a radiologist! Me thinks you worry too much! Your boyfriend will be fine.

well, he could always freeze his "now healthy sperm" for future use? If he really doesn't want to give that up, and you really want to have his children...you can store it for later use.
