2000 is very nice.

I would go with a dual core AMD at least a 4000+ processor.

At least 200GB hard drive.

at least 1 GB of ram but 2 GB would be better.

DVD burner but that's easy to get.

And you might want a computer with a preinstalled video card. But video cards are the hardest part but depending on what your doing it does not matter that much. Even integrated video can be great on some AMD's just make sure you get advice from more then 1 person. Good luck all this should only cost around 1500 but I could be wrong.

I highly suggest you get a Dual AMD64 Processor. They are very very very powerful.

For Gaming your going to want a video card almost any will do as long is it came out in the last year. Even a $120 video cards are about 5 times better then onboard ones. You can have the video card installed after.

Side note when it comes to video cards most need a 350watt to 450 watt power supply and most on shelf PC's only have a 300-350 watt power supply in them. So I suggest you get a custom build PC or buy a video card and or a better power supply and get them installed.

And if your into any type of 3D gaming grab a PC with a PCI-E video card slot.

Because PCI-E runs at 16x when AGP can only run up to 8x.

Go to www.dell.com and they have a place where you can build your own computer, including monitor, speakers, processor, hard drive, CD/DVD burners, the works. Also if you search hard enough, you can find online coupons for free stuff and possibly a % off of your total purchase so you can get even more!

Go to your local computer store and tell them you are interested in buying a new computer. They should be able to tell you which is the best for the price range you have.
