Excuse me, sir, the UN was selling-out to Iraq for oil. Maybe you should go to http://www.factcheck.com

Actually, I did hear that.
Feb 18, 1970: “I’m an internationalist. “I’d like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations.”

The above statement was made by John Kerry himself

Short version? White guilt. People like Kerry have grown up with so much money and privilege that they feel guilty about having everything so easy. Instead of simply giving away their fortune and living a normal life like the rest of us, they think they need to make everyone pay for their "sin" of being rich and white.
Why they can't just wash away their guilt by giving their OWN money to the less fortunate is truly puzzling.
It's either that, or they hate that anyone in America has the potential to become as rich as they are and might crash their snooty neighborhoods and country clubs. So, they need to keep the "little people" down with taxes and other things that will destroy our country.

Why do you think it's only the Dems? Don't you realize that this 'selling out of America' is rampant in both parties?
Bush has already taken the first steps toward the North American Union, and it is only the top of the iceberg.
"President Bush is pursuing a globalist agenda to create a North American Union, effectively erasing our borders with both Mexico and Canada. This was the hidden agenda behind the Bush administration's true open borders policy.
Secretly, the Bush administration is pursuing a policy to expand NAFTA politically, setting the stage for a North American Union designed to encompass the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. What the Bush administration truly wants is the free, unimpeded movement of people across open borders with Mexico and Canada."
Click on the link below, and read all about it. It isn't a 'conspiracy', it's just that the main stream media failed to alert us to it as usual.
This is going to be no different than the European Union, we will have a North American currency (maybe the Namo instead of the Euro?) and eventually all of these larger 'unions' will become the one world system, ruled over by a central governing body.
It is inevitable, and both parties are working toward it, don't kid yourself.

You've never heard any Democrat say that, but rather, are simply listening to conspiracy mongers imagining that that's what they want. Nobody wants to give sovereignty to the UN. You've been misled.
And every Democrat who answers this question will say the exact same thing...but in your mind, that means we're either in on the conspiracy or complete fools. But the truth is that you really need better sources of information. More so, you need to listen to the words that people say, rather than what you imagine they mean.
Update: That should be www.factcheck.org (the same mistake Cheney made in the VP debate in 2004), and they are not necessarily an objective source. Otherwise, Cheney wouldn't have suggested that people visit the site. They can be just as partisan as anyone else and have clearly repeated falsehoods.

I find it interesting that the Nazi party of Germany decided to go it alone and oppose the League of Nations in the period leading up to WW2, invading the Balkans first in a quest to secure their oil supply, Much like the USA is doing today. No offence guys but the parallels are to strong to ignore.

Because in liberal la la, fluffy world all people are nice and just need a hug and the big, bad U.S. is evil and needs to answer to all the nice happy people of the rest of the world who want nothing else except the best for Americans because they love us so, so much. And Koo Koo, we control the U.N.? The U.S. is that nuts that we have the U.N. do everything it can to usurp our own interests intentionally?

He doesn't that is propaganda spread by the GOP. Kerry wanted to shore up our non support of the UN. He felt if we bettered our image in the international community we would become more powerful. It was a plan to help eliminate the need for the US to fund and aid every foreign government it buy their friendship.

Because they are filled with self guilt. IN their warped sense of reality they truly believe that America has created all the evil in the world by being the lone super power. And in addition to being the lone super power - they want us to feel guilty because we are so advanced over our attackers. We should feel guilty because we have technological weapons while the enemy is still on camels with swords. I have no self guilt and would use all the weapons available to crush the enemy. If another culture has a problem because the majority of people in that culture want to live like us - well then it is their problem and not ours.

I think there are some far left that would see that as a solution, but for the most part Democrats and Republicans think the UN is pretty worthless.

Well, since the Republicans have already sold our country to the oil industry, I am not sure there is much left to sell to the UN.
