Define the American dream.....

Here is my take on it....

The OPPORTUNITY to work hard and make a new start in a free world. Put food on the table for your family, get education for your children.

I think that people mistake living the American dream as being rich and having everything you want. I don't think that is it....I think having the OPPORTUNITY is what it is all about. If you succeed or not is a different story.

Actually, I believe the original "American dream" was to own land with a house, so I'd have to say that well over half of Americans today have accomplished that dream!

For many, owning a home is the american dream. This still happens for millions of people every day. For others it is being able to speak your mind freely to however you want. This is something that is still available to us all.

The realization of the american dream comes from deciding what it is you want to accomplish and going for it. We can still dream in the U.S.

it varies on how you define it.

To most of us middle class or lower, the idea of the american dream is deteriorating because we had such high expectations and bought into the consumerism idea. In doing so we lost sight of the fact that we stilll have more than 70% of the people on this planet.

Give a darfur person a crappy ghetto apt, with running water and the ability to work and feed herself and she'd probably be pretty damn happy about it. where as most americans would bithc and moan
