Sequels usually do. Will this break the mold, as did Spiderman 2, or will it be just another self-aware bad clone of the original?

well...
Just saw the sequel tonight at a private screening in Toronto. It was rather interesting going to the movie since they scanned us all for video equipment and did not permit anyone with a camera cell phone to enter the theater. During the movie they had security standing in the emergency exits using video cameras with night vision. They taped and scanned the audience the entire movie which I found really annoying.It was great to see the movie before the general public gets to see it, but the night vision video taping of the audience made me feel like I was under surveillance.
Overall the movie was well done with some great fight scenes and comic relief.I will not say much more since I cannot do so without ruining the plot for others.

It may suck though Depp can pull off just about anything and is sufficiently amusing to watch regardless of weather the film itself is bad. Not only that he's a great draw with the tennie boppers (7-19) and some early 20-30 somethings.

ABSOLUTELY not! Anything with Johhny Depp CANNOT suck. It's completely impossible. I just heard last night that there will be a Pirates of the Caribbean 3! OMG! Thought I was totally going to have a cornary! That's another reason why it won't suck as it is part of a trilogy so by standard alone, it CAN"T suck! Thanks! Have a rockin' day!

It was only average. I went to see the midnight screening ...
The ending was CRAP.
That Davey Jones was a comedic relief. Everytime he talked he made me laugh. It wasn't scary. OOOh Tenticles...
The scene with the waterwheel... that was so fake.
Everything was so animated.
It was MUCH less amazing than the first pirates

I think it will be great and I am looking forward to seeing Keith Richards playing Jack Sparrow's dad in the third movie.

no. if johnny depp is in it. it will not sux at all. he just a great actor to blow this sequal up. I can't wait to take my son to watch it. johnny has a great sense of humor on the last movie he will be more awesome on the 2nd part.
