I'm not counting on it.
The premise of your question is flawed. When I was in school I said the Pledge of Allegiance. Do you think that it is proper for the federal government to compel students attending government schools under compulsory attendance laws to acknowledge the role of God in the formation of our country? Would this constitute "effecting an establishment of religion?" If not, why not?
In other words, just because there is a government mandated system that I must live with, my reluctant acceptance of it does not make it right.
Anyway, I think that social security is brutally flawed. It forcefully takes money from people and makes NO guarantee of payouts. This does not mean that I will refuse to take my money back from the government.

No. Because it probably will not be around when I would be eligible. Though I'm sure the taxes will still be collected for it.

First, we have no entitlement to SS. The government can just stop paying it out whenever they choose.

It is a scam. It takes 14% of my paycheck and gives it to other people. That's goddam socialism, and is disgusting. I'd rather have that money and be saving it for myself. Then I'd have more retirement money (because of better rates in the free market), and my family would still have that money should I die.

It is a gross violation of my 4th amendments rights. The government is taking my property ($) without just compensation. That is fraud, it is theft, it is unconstitutional.

Last, because it is a scam that will go bankrupt before I retire, I now have to save an additional 15% of my income in order to have some retirement money. It makes me sick that the government is involved in this marxist wealth transfer scheme.

I hope FDR is burning in hell for what he wrought.

Nope I don't ever truly plan on "retiring" either.

I do think, however, that if the Govt took it from me I should still get it back. So I do plan on using it in a sense. But because it was taken in the first place, not because I'm dependent upon it.

Well, I don't live in Galveston, TX, so I don't get to "opt out" of it. I wonder if Social Security will even be solvent by the time I'm ready to retire...?

Anyone who is planning to retire solely on SS are idiots and bound to live their "golden years" in poverty.
Liberitarian who would choose to put my SS wages in my own accounts.

Social security probably won't exist by the time I need it, so no.

Nope, that's why I invest into my own retirement as heavily as I can.

So there.

I doubt it, since it will be bankrupt before I retire.
