I bought an ipod at the start of the year, and loaded itunes onto my laptop at home (not connected to the net). I have recently moved abroad and do not have my laptop with me. I have downloaded loads more songs from limewire onto my work comp and would like to connect my ipod to load them on. However, I'm afraid that if I connect my ipod, I'll lose my songs that are already on there. Can anyone advise??? I know that at home, if I want to delete songs on my ipod, I remove them from the itunes and then they are deleted when I plug the ipod into the computer. Please help!!!

It's ok with the company as we've been told to use it to supply "muzak".

alright i understand, and a lot of people get this confused. first you need to install itunes on that new computer. then plug your ipod in, and it will say some thing like "this ipod was used on a different computer, would you like to delete the songs on it". i havent seen it in awhile so it's probably different. just make sure you seleect not to delete the songs on there. then go to your ipod in itunes, and click on the ipod in the bottom right hand corner of itunes. select to manually update your ipod. then drag all the songs you want to your ipod by press ctrl and clicking on each one. or just press shift on the last song to select all of them.

When you have connected the ipod to the new computer, it will ask you to configure the ipod with the new itunes software. Don't. I'm not sure of the exact instructions it asks you to do, just click cancel or something. the open up itunes and the ipod should be there. Then you can right click and change the options of the ipod. Change the setting which says something along the lines of "automatically update my ipod" and click on the button which says "Manually Transfer music". This will allow you to put the music from new itunes onto the ipod but not the other way around.

You can load the new songs onto your iPod as follows.

The key is to turn OFF the feature in iTunes -- ON YOUR WORK LAPTOP -- called "sync to iPod":

http://www.apple.com/itunes/sync/

This is the feature that basically says, "Keep my iTunes library on this computer exactly the same as what is on my iPod -- that is, if I delete a song on the computer; delete it on the iPod". That is all fine and good on your laptop at home, but is not what you want on your work laptop.

Turn off the feature in iTunes on your work laptop, and you will be fine.

Download a program called EphPod. It doesn't have the restrictions that iTunes has and it makes life SO much easier.

You will then be able to upload new songs or backup/remove old ones.

Look it up on Google or on a software page.

You shouldn't lose any songs by plugging it in. You just need to install iTunes into your new computer.

You do realize that it's against most company's policies to run a program like Limewire and that they can monitor your useage right? Limewire is a network security threat.

Go into preferences menu (under edit) and there is an option to manually load songs rather than automatically updating them each time you connect.
