I haven't read and Nicholas Sparks books either, but Agatha Christies are always great to keep you wanting to read more. But, I would suggest the Dan Brown books. All four (the Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress, and Deception Point) are excellent and great reads! its so hard to put them down after you've read the first couple of chapters!

Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. When his best friend, a young clergyman, is killed in a mockery of a duel by an arrogant noble, just to quiet his eloquent expressions of democratic ideals, Andre-Louis Moreau vows revenge. From that point, through meteoric careers as a consummate actor and scenario writer, then as a fencing master, and finally a politician, the brilliant Moreau keeps thwarting the aims of the aristocratic Marquis de la Tour d'Azyr. However, the nobleman causes pain to Moreau as well, and the time must come when the two will meet to settle their enmity once and for all. You are not likely to guess how their confrontation finally turns out. Set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this swashbuckling novel is exciting throughout, and it presents one of the most dashing heroes in fiction, a man who can fight equally well with his mind, his mouth, his pen, and his sword, a man who stirs up events wherever he goes.

Vetch finds he really likes and understands dragons, and soon he becomes the best dragon boy of all. He still harbors anger, however, toward the Tian invasion. try Jodi Piccoult or Joyce Carol Oates. They both write along the line of Nicholas Sparks. My suggestion would be My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Piccoult or We were the Mulvaneys by Oates. Another author you may want to look into is Nora Roberts.

I haven't read Nicholas Sparks but the best author I've read that keeps me up 'till late hours in the night is Clive Cussler. He writes action/adventure books. The movie Sahara is based on one of his.

Hi there. I'm the author of a new medieval fantasy book that you might like. The title is THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY. It's 445 pages of action, adventure, magic, mystery and mayhem. If you like Conan, LOTR or Harry Potter type books, this may be one you'll enjoy.

Good luck, whatever you decide to read!

THE SCYTHIAN STONE (eBook only)
THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY (eBook and hard cover)
THE REGENTS OF RHUM (coming fall '07)

Major Media Reviews:

Publishers Weekly

STARRED Review. A fast pace, sly humor, amusing dialogue and a richly researched background lift Baxley's fantasy, the first of a new series set in medieval Britain. When Merlin's long-ago apprentice Kruzurk Makshare (aka the Boozer) receives a dreamlike visitation from the legendary mage, he learns he must destroy another former apprentice, the villainous Seed of Cerberus. To do so will require a visit to the demon-guarded Blackgloom Keep. Enter young Daynin McKinnon, who discovers a curious rune-covered headstone, which may be the fabled Blackgloom Bounty, and brings it to Kruz's attention. Kruz believes it will provide entry into the fortress, while Daynin hopes the sale of the stone will restore his family's fortunes. The colorful cast of good guys and ne'er-do-wells includes the Pictish ghost of Brude McAlpin liberated from his tomb, assorted pursuing Caledonians and a bemused Prior Bede, whose monastery serves as a hiding place for the Blackgloom Bounty. Suitable for fantasy enthusiasts of all ages.

The Grisham books, while pretty lowbrow from a literary point of view, are certainly entertaining and hard to lay down. Try A Time to Kill, The Firm, The Pelican Brief or The Testament.

The 'Tome', it is 3 feet by 3 and a half feet and contains well over 2,000 pages. Once you pick it up, you will have no chance to put it down.
