got to www.us.army.mil, there's a lookup function there for soldiers by name. You type in a name, it pops up a list of matching soldiers and where they're stationed. Then you just pick the one thats your pal, and it'll tell you what unit he's in, and that units phone number.

Send a letter addressed to him at Catterick. As far as I know, the Army still acknowledges that people have names.
