Rooney is a thug and should be suspended for several games...it's amazing how the British tabloid press has given a soapbox to Rooney to deflect blame on this one, when he was the agressor.
If someone witnesses a murder and then reports it to authorities, is that witness responsible for the crime? Most certainly not, so Rooney should shut up and take responsibility for his actions like a man. Until he does, he shames both the England and Man U jerseys.

Ronaldo was not to be blamed for leading Rooney to a red card BUT as his team mate, I don't think he need to insist with the referee that Rooney deserved a red card. It was obvious what Rooney did was wrong. Ronaldo failed to realize that in the end it's his club, Manchester that will be paying his salary.

Trouble is Ronaldo went the extra mile to MAKE SURE Rooney was sent off! Yes Rooney pushed Ronaldo, does that warrant a red card? NO. Did Rooney step on that other player? YES. Was it on purpose? NO. Rooney is such a hothead,if he goes for anyone his face tells the story. If you watch the film, OPEN-MINDED, you will notice NO expression on Rooneys face at all,he was not even aware where he was stepping, in the scuffle, which I might add was caused by two Portugal players fouling Rooney!! Fear from Portugal set in,once Rooney had the ball, that he would stick it in the net! Ronaldo set out to get Rooney off, which is why he intervened, although he was not involved in the incident, and Rooney fell for it!! As for patriotism, well there are other way's to achieve one's aims, thats by playing fairly,if the Portugal team were THAT good, why resort to dirty tactics?????

There were 10 other players on the pitch to fight the 'war' in this way. Ronaldo didn't have to get involved against his team-mate. Rooney was on his way off anyway.
It's a shame Ronaldo has to be such a whining, diving, little pr1ck because he is actually very talented.

please...there was no betrayal there. just because they both play for manchester united doesnt mean that they get to help each other out when theyre not playing for that team. they play for different national teams and therefore support their own teams. he didnt do anything but talk to the ref like everyone else was doing. rooney was an idiot and deserved to get a red card. he should control his anger or he'll never become a better football player.

I didn't know Ronaldo had all that power on the ref!!
"Hey, ref. Show Rooney a red!"
"Yes, master! Done!"
As for the rest I agree. You've got to be faithful to the jersey you're wearing.

Extreme patriotism?? I think extreme lack of sportsmanship. How is Rooney injuring someone else (by accident) any of his business?? He is partially at fault for provoking Rooney.
