Born at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, California to Clinton Eastwood Sr. and Margaret Ruth Runner; the family is of Scottish, Irish, Dutch, and English descent. Eastwood is a descendant of Mayflower passenger and Plymouth Colony Governor, William Bradford.
Laurel was born in Ulverston, Cumbria, England (then in Lancashire). His parents Arthur and Madge (Margaret) were both active in the theatre and Laurel's home life was a happy one.
