you should use 30 if you are really white but if/when you have a good base tan use ten or fifteen....

It depends on your skin tone, but if you are wanting a tan and you havent been exposed to much sun yet, then you will want to start out with a 30 SPF. Lay out for a few days with that, and then gradually reduce it. I started out at the beginning of the summer on a 30, and now I'm down to 8. Probably, the next time I lay out I will use a 4 or maybe even a 2. My tan right now is awesome. There is no redness and a nice golden shade. Be careful though! Sun damage is harsh and as much as I love tanning, I know without some SPF, my skin will hate me for it.

Well Iam going to try sending this again to you. Try spf with 5 or less. Put this on front and back and lay in the sun for 20 to 30 minutes. Alot of the sun ultraviolet rays that burn you are on the low side of the spectrum. I;m a Hawaiian and really never have had to use sun screen because I have darker skin, That sure helps! I use to use baby oil and iodine. Brother I got really dark surfing all the time. But try this but only for 20 to30 minutes NO LONGER ! Do this for severn days and then send me some of the money you will be getting for showing off your beautiful hawaiian tan. LOL Pineapple

I get great tan but I spend a few hours at the beach playing volleyball on weekends. I don't know if you are planning on going to the pool once and getting roasted or if you are going to do it slowly. But I use SPF 70 if I find a higher one I will use higher... I get as much protection as I can and later at home I have the wifey moisturize my skin with lotion. No point in taking chances with skin cancer.. Use as much protection as you can... If it takes longer to get the tan you want... the tan will also last longer... if you get it in a day... it will probably shed off in a week.
I just read other comments... I don't recommend tanning lotion or oils... its a waist, your tan won't look as good... use it only if you are planning on a quick tan for a one time only... I also would like to recommend to all of you who don't like to roast in the sun... Bronze spray... my wife tried it last week... looks great I couldn't tell it was fake till after she told me... its not that orange lotion... you get full body spray... leave it for about 16 hours and shower... nice tan... no cancer risk... looks better than tanning booth.
