No, sorry. Just because teens will do it doesn't mean society should agree with it. They still aren't mature enough to know what is good for them in the long run.
Older adults will take advantage of tender young minds and bodies. More teens would feel pressured to do it because "everyone else" is doing it. The pregnancy, abortion and STD rates would skyrocket. Many young lives would be changed for the worse. Young people would have many regrets because they don't fully realize the purpose of sex. It isn't just to make babies, of course, but it is a supreme act of bonding with their one and only mate. Sex is not just a party game or pleasant way to pass the time with a boy or girlfriend.
By having sex so casually, the mind and body changes the way it perceives the chemical, emotional and hormonal process of sex. Like when ducklings imprint on a mother, when two people have sex, they bond. It's not that way when sex partners change again and again. That is part of the reason why people can't stay in one relationship anymore. The importance of sex has been diminished.
No, let's not lower the age of consent.

Yes, I think it should be lowered, not becuase teens are having sex at a young age now but becuase there has ALWAYS been a trend for humans to have sex before 18. And although in North America we have coined 18 to be the sudden age of wisdom, thats just not true. It depends on who you are. If at 16 you are able to make an informed desicion about your sexuality and what is safe and healthy for you then I say go ahead.

No, just because most under 18 are having sex, it does not mean they are emotionally ready for it or for the pregnancy that often results. Do you seriously think that most under 18 are mature enough to realize the full implications of what they are doing? If you do, you need to pay more attention to some of the questions asked in here by these young teens. Questions such as:
1. if he pulls out, can i get pregnant?
2. will mast urbation cause pregnancy?
3. we had oral sex, will i get pregnant?
This is just a small sample that shows that most of these teens having sex don't have a clue! Many 18 year olds aren't even mature enough to be having sex!

No. This law protects children from being raped by adults. If you lower the age of consent, then a child or teenager who get's raped won't have as good of a chance at convicting the perp because the defense will argue that the teen consented. It should be kept at 18. Anyway, teens should not be having sex.

Consent for what-to have sex? Definitely not! Most teens are having sex at a young age and being irresponsible about it, like having all these children that they're not even old enough to raise. And the poor children have to suffer for it. Sex involves complications at a young age.

It's not 18 everywhere. It's 16 many places. But no, just because people break the law doesn't mean the law should be changed. That's like making the smoking age 12 because 12 year olds smoke.

this is a really good question. i'm kinda on the fence about it. part of me says no they shouldn't lower the age limit because that's what seperates adults from minors. Adults SHOULD NOT have sex with minors. period. but another part of me says that they should raise the age limit because when you are 18 you are still considered a teenager, meaning your peers are either going to be your age or younger, just because at the time that's who you are surrounded by (thinking high school students here). so if you're having sex with your peers at 18 than you are having sex with other high schoolers who are going to be younger than you. i think they should raise the age limit to 19, because by then you would be out of high school and around other adults in college or at your work. does that make sense?? i think that if minors are going to have sex it should be with other minors, which is not illegal. and adults should have sex with other adults because having sex with someone several years younger than you is kinda discusting.
good luck with finding the answer you're looking for.

No,
It's set so the older people don't prey on the younger ones. Even at 18 you are usually not mature enough to make the correct decisions.
Just because kids are having sex at younger ages doesn't make it right!

a more thought provoking question might be (not that you didn't have a good question),would disease be controlled more effectively if the power over the institution of marriage was put more in the hands of the parents rather than the government usurping parental authority?.Minors get diseases too,an ostrich flaps its wing proudly and sticks its head in the sand so any foot can come along and crush its eggs, not like the kindly stork.
