why is everyone so worried about the war. we have war now.

Hell yeah I'm with you! I thought I was the only one! Everyone always says the 1920's or 1970's or 1800's, but I always thought it'd be cool to live during that time period. Rock on!

40s? Sexual Harassment was called "getting along with the boss". No housing available due to the war. No gas for your car for the same reason. Most everything was rationed. Your father, brothers, boyfriend, husband and sons died at war in a country far away, unless you were Japanese and you and your family got shipped off to live behind barbed wire. Heath care? Where do we begin listing the services and procedures available now that weren't even thought of then. No reliable birth control. Yep, I'll take right now please. (Oh, but the music was great!)

You're talking about the era when kids still had respect for their parents or they would get taken out back of the tool shed and got their tails busted with razor strops. Ya darn tootin' I'd love to live in the 1940s.

Let's see: food and commodity rationing, a World War that we could have lost early on, discriminationation against people of Japanese descent, but not German or Italian, that's just peachy-keen.

polio, racism, threat of invasion by germany and japan, WWII, thousands of people dying at war, rations on everything. No power brakes, steering, manual transmission, power outages, no cable, pc's, cell phones, etc.. No I would not wanted to live in the 40's

i would love it, but depending on how old you are, you should realize that in the 40's there were no computers, no television, no rock & roll (teenagers danced to glenn miller and benny goodman etc..) it was a great time to be an american. this country was on the brink of going through some great changes.

Haha, no thanks. I would never wanna witness world war. And the cars...hideous! Hairstyles are ok, but clothes aren't. So I prefer to be in the future:D
