I will be 16 in 11 days and I need a job to help pay for car insurance. My zip code is 66112 and I would preferably like to work in a clothing store, but any kind of job would be fine. I would be able to work during the week at any time until school gets back in an then I would be able to work during the week from 4:30 till whenever. If anyone can help me find a job please reply.

Sorry gal, but jobs rarely fall into anyone's lap. If you really want it, get dressed nicely (no jeans), put some conservative makeup on, comb your hair and start walking.

Hit the mall if clothing stores are what you want. Go into all of them, not just the ones you like. In fact, you're better off working in a store where you don't like the clothes because then you're a lot less likely to spend your paycheck on whatever just came in.

If you work where you love the clothes, you'll likely not have any money left for your insurance.

Also check the grocery stores. In some areas those are union jobs and pay very, very well. Much better than most retail (which is notorious for paying very badly).

Lastly if you have a branch near you, check out Washington Mutual bank. They have a special program for high school students and they also pay above average wages and will guarantee a job through college (with regular and decent salary increases). One of the perks of a bank, you won't have to work all weekend! (just Sat am) They also have a program that might help pay for college.

Good luck.

One good lesson for you to learn now is that you can't sit back and wait for things to happen.. first of all, get a job permit ( I think you need one since you are only 16) then make a resume, get your best clothes (no jeans, cutoffs, midriffs, sandals, clothes too tight or too showy) and practice telling others why you want a job...

Also, be careful where you work at , you don't want to spend all your money there, so be careful!
Try the local Video Rental places.. they usually hire teens, Baskin Robbins, and also Chick Fil A....
Good Luck!

Good luck. You really do have to pound the ground on this one. Go to the mall, outlet stores, etc and fill out applications. Be sure when you go to have the names, phone numbers and adresses of at least 3 people as personal references. Also take your own pen and if you have friends with you, let them stay outside the store while you are asking for an app. Go to several stores and put in lots of apps so your chances of getting interviews are better.

I have a 16 yo daughter, she's looked in retail stores as well. Most clothing stores won't hire you until you're 18. Your best bets are going to be fast food chains, grocery stores, WalMart or Target, etc. Good luck!

Try Target, you can get a good job that treats you right, they allow you to work till 9:45 at night, and they pay you good, with other good benefits if you stay.

Hit the pavement girl. You need to start applying for everything. Ask mom and dad to help with interview skills. Sell yourself to the employer. Be confident and be prepared to be rejected numerous times. Good luck to you.

Good for you for starting to save money ASAP! Gotta get the car insured! :)

Anyways, to answer your question, check these places first. It's easy to do and most places do their applications online anyways.
