Indoor plumbing.

I can't pick one... there are so many good ones... gah. The torture... how do you expect me to pick one?! Um okay. Gah.

Pliable paint tubes. This totally jumped started the Impressionist era of painting. It made paint easier to transport, made it possible to paint outside and it was cheap so really anyone with some extra change could suddenly become a painter. I'm an artist so this is really something I take for granted but I'm glad I don't have to mix my own paint (and possible die).

There was also the printing press (awesome), cement (even more awesome), the wheel (oh, how awesome is that?), the vault (as in architecture - which is more than awesome), electricity (very awesome), aqueducts (thank God for the Romans!), indoor plumbing (totally awesome - and convenient!)....

I don't want to get into technology because it has just made us lazy as a people. For example: Instead of getting up and getting a calculator (which is in the drawer beside me) I take the time to find the calculator on the computer - type in a few buttons - mess up - retype to finally get the answer - when it could have taken me less time to just open the drawer and use the calculator.
