There is a sign at the top of the hill saying NOT A THRU STREET, but I'm afraid no one who turns around in my driveway can read LOL, Anyway it is just rather annoying having someone turn around in my driveway every 5-10 min. Any suggestions on how to keep them for turning around in my drive way?

& it matters because as much as it is used by other people we will have to replace it sooner... & that costs $

there are 3 houses at the end of the street & the street just leads into another guys driveway - it just comes to end - not widened or anything - our driveway is the widest so it is easier to turn around in - however most of the people also get in our grass while turning around- it is just dirt now NO GRASS LEFT! This is why I really want to fix this problem! THANKS

I live in a cul-de-sac on a dead end street and for some reason people in large trucks or SUVs cannot make the turn without using my driveway either. I got tired of it and the marks that their tires made on the driveway. Not to mention the fact that it "drives" the dogs into a barking frenzy every time the vehicles pull in and out of the drive.

Believe it or not, this worked for us. We got two very large lion statues and placed them on pedestals my husband built out of over sized brick pavers. They are up high enough to be well seen and very close to the driveway's edge and the sidewalk. I guess people are too afraid that they will hit them and in the three years that they have been guarding the driveway we haven't had one turn around! Neighborhood kids stop by and pet their heads, but nary a car has ventured to use the driveway as a turnabout since the lions took up residence. Surprisingly, now we see trucks/Suvs make three point turns in the cul-de-sac to AVOID going into our driveway.

They look better than the iron gate we thought about installing and they were not that expensive either. We we're actually surprised at the deterrent they were because we thought we might have to put a decorative cord between them (connecting them) which would have been a pain for us to get in our own drive. But the lions are doing their job without being leashed and not only do they add character, they are now how we tell people to locate our home!

Call the city and see if they can put a "Dead End" sign up - some folks just don' t understand the road ends. You can also put a couple of large planters on casters (so they are easy to move) at the end of your driveway - they will be pretty and functional.

I have a similar problem as I live near the intersection and when the light is red people block the drive way.

Drivers have become more inconsiderate over the years. I think it is from all the over crowding - everyone in a hurry and they just don't extend common courtesy anymore.

I have this problem too - we live on a lake and are the last person at a dead end road... people think they can get to the other side of the lake by driving down our road - DUH! Big sign, losers! But some people don't read, and well, nobody's hurting our driveway, so why should we care if they turn around there once in awhile? Either get a gate or some sort of blockade, or learn to let it roll off your shoulders.

I can tell you this, I have a gate and big delivery trucks always choose my drive to turn around in when they get off the main road. How stupid when there is a road straight ahead to turn onto to go back to the same road they were on. Now they hit my gate pole and I have to fix it. I think I will sit in my lawn chair with my shot gun like Granny Moses and wave em on by eh !

first of all, your friekin morons need to stfu about spelling, if we were here for that it would be called Yahoo Spell Check.

secondly just because you live at the end of a dead end does NOT friekin mean its a cul-de-sac(sp?). ever thought about a street the goes straight but then just suddenly stops... you people need to get out more.

third, as humorous as it would be to put nails and spikes in your driveway, this will of course damage cars and im sure you wouldnt want to be sued. a sign saying you have spikes will do you no good b/c of the fact that people have eyes.. they read they see no spikes, they turn around.

there really is not good solution. a gate would look weird in town. i would just park your cars as a blockade. block them from getting to your hosue... if you live at the end... block them from getting to your house.. instead of blocking them AT your house.

trying consulting with the city about this problem.

I don't know how your driveway looks but why don't you get two peices of poll about 4 ft long and place them on each side of your drive way, then get a peice of chain the width of you driveway weld one end to one of the polls and then latch it to the other end. people are not going to get out of there car to unlatch the chain and it is very cheap to buy... and it will save your grass... just a thought

Have spikes installed like parking lots have. Put up a sign that says "Don't turn in driveway, Severe Tire Damage" Good Luck.

Hm... Good question... I gotta say a fun thing to do is put up a sign that says PRIVATE PROPERTY, Violators will be shot. (at the top of the hill). If not that put a sign next to your driveway that says IF YOU DRIVE ON THIS DRIVEWAY TO TURN AROUND, THE MINE WILL DETONATE. May as well work?

I would have a nice chat with the local police dept. if it happens as often as you say, they would love to just hang out and write tickets all day long and it will surely put a good dent in the people who go down that street to turn around.

Stop wining about it its not too much of a big deal or get a gate at the end of your drive way. You should be happy you could help people find there direction and turn around instead of complaining about it.
