Practice on the technical know how of the software and look for more inspiration on the following sites:

Flash websites and often graphics design websites are good
Computer arts and 3d world
Tutorialfinds.com and you can find many others on google for learning how to do stuff
draw, draw , and experiment with your inspirations of the artworks and designs you work on.

Sometimes it can lead you to less sleep too. As long as you enjoy what you do-- that is really important. Once I attended an intensive digital video course and I really liked it and it was beneficial of the job that I do.

Expose yourself to conferences, seminars and organizations if you can. You can also enter your works too to get some feedback and improve on the areas you need to work on and concentrate on. Knowledge, using your skills, creativity, network with people who are working in the field are keys to success.

Good luck!!!

Familiarise yourself, saturate your vision with as much design as possible. Open your eyes, observe the world around you, see design in everything. Talk to people who've been there, attend seminars, etc., learn to draw well enough to communicate your ideas, collect good design samples or take pictures of design that impacts you and try to examine why it does.

Find out where you can gain access to computers with design software on it, print output places, etc.

Six months, should be tough if it's intensive, so you will not sleep at all. All the best!

See if you can find books on graphic design at your local library. With intensive courses, especially ones having to do with computers, it's best to get a running head start.

there is a psychological technique called "suspension of belief".

If you study something you are going to build a belief and is not going to help you as you will make assumptions. This will limit what you can learn and not the opposite.

The best is keep yourself relaxed and keep your ears opened.

Learn not to sleep for one thing, all the people I know in GD programs are always busy doing classwork and never have time for good sleep.
