I think it would have a negative effect. If I have to listen to that crap day in and day out(well I'm in college now so it doesn't matter but anyways) I would dislike it even more than I do now.
Think of it how like, children raised in strict religious homes and children that go to private christian schools tend to go wild once they get out. Do you want that to happen to ALL the kids?
Plus, I believe if you teach one religion you have to teach them all, since none of them are correct or wrong or THE one religion. Just think if you had to teach every religion and adhear to ever religious practice for the sake of fairness. You would never get any REAL WORTHWHILE learning done.

I think it would impact our society for the better and no you wouldn't have to devote a ton of time to it. If a kid has an established religion in their home, they should pray to that god. If not, they can look to their friends, a teacher or someone else whom they trust. More than anything it would encourage kids to think past themselves. Much of our problems today is that as a society we don't think past ourselves. Kids aren't worried what their parents think, because they're not emotionally available to them. Teachers are "Paid" to be there so they can't usually turn to them as a source for approval and other kids are notoriously bad about getting each other deeper in the poop. An ever-watchful and compassionate God (such as Jesus Christ) is always present and His word can direct a child in a positive direction. I think 10 minutes or less per day would be fine. It would be better if classes were available but I think the teachers may encourage their point of view so that could be very, very bad. I'm for it, but I'm also a mainstream Christian who is about to homeschool my 9 year old because the public system is getting more and more unruly. I've had kids at the same school for almost 14 years, have watched the degradation and am just now pulling out. It seems like the quality Christian kids are being homeschooled or sent to private school more and the few that remain are getting picked on more and are the odd-balls. And my daughter is not a bible thumper at school.

Your question assumes an incorrect fact. Religious prayer already is allowed in public school. "Prayer" is communication between a believer and God. Children and teachers are certainly not prohibited from praying, either silently in the midst of a classroom full of activity or out loud in a private time and location.
What is not allowed is for the government (ie: the public school system) to cause the religious prayer or to be used as the vehicle for religious prayer.

Religious prayer should not be allowed in public schools because that wouls just up the racial tension. School is for learning, not for praying. Also, some religions believe in one god, some don't. So how are you going to have time for all of the religions to get to say their prayers. Another thing, my family is the only indian family in my entire town, so we will probably be forgotten, and I'm not going to say catholic and christian prayers.

Yes, it will favor one religion over teh next, unless you want to devote 2 days to prayer so that every religious group can pray at that school once.

oh of course. i think they should allow it. religion is the only thing we have now. prayers for better things. ya know? maybe other people may become more religious. and people who don't practice a religion might find one. it would be nice.

I think you should look up what the "FATHER of OUR CONSTITUTION said about church and state.
Unless you think the men who created the best democracy of all time until now were stupid.
It was the men after and still is today who are so greedy they must have all their way.
And you and I pay the price. or at least you will.
