It takes at *least* 2 days after the start of implantation before a pregnancy test can *possibly* be accurate (and most take longer). But the bleeding can be later than implantation, so this doesn't really help much. You can test immediately and see, but it may be another week still before you get an accurate test.

Most home pregnancy tests are only accurate a week, or 2 after your expected period. I'm puzzled that the bleeding occurred a week after your expected period. (Generally implantation wouldn't occur during this time frame.) But your cycle can vary greatly under stress. At this point I'd wait a week before trusting a test. One of 3 things has happened.

1)You just had a little bleeding, but the baby is fine. (Bring it up with your doctor when you see him, but don't stress about it. Unless it reoccurs.)
2)You were late in your cycle and just implanted.
3)You miscarried. (Nothing to worry about 30% of pregnancies in healthy women end this way in the 1st month.)

The problem if you take a test now is you will likely get a positive result in case 1, and 3, and a negative result in 2. In a week you'll likely see a positive result in cases 1, and 2 and negative in case 3.

You can take a test now. I had implantation bleeding on Monday and took the test on Tuesday and it was positive in 2 seconds.
