The literal answer is that things out of place are funny. Yoyo Ma talking to Slash about a particularly hectic body surf would seem akwardly funny.
To a lot of guys, a woman talking about football is the same. Sure we know you play...but it really hasnt sunk in yet. Give it a few generations. As has been pointed out in the past, were not the brightest lot.

A lot of the women in our local talk about football, we don't find it funny.
I think what a lot of guys find amusing, is that one time most women weren't the slightest bit interested in football, but now the players earn such large salaries more and more women have taken an interest, and now tend to run with the pack.

Because some men think that women don't know anything about manly sports.It's like listening to a man talk about make up,which is off course funny and weird.

I for one dont think its funny. I think its stupid that men actually think that way, I agree that some women know NOTHING about the sport, but so do plenty men! I think its time we get out of our shell!

Most women know nothing about football, or any sport for tht matter. In my experience, guys are impressed and want a girl who can hold up her end of a conversation involving sports.

I don't know why they think it's funny...maybe they are intimidated that some of us girls know more than them...? could be...
all I know is that I love football and could talk about it for ages!...I've been a footy fan for a long time now...and will always be.....besides what other sport besides football is as exciting...as passionate? 0...zilch...because none compare to football...

only joking my mum is a footy fan (Arsenal) even if is knows the game, she can n't play the game so when something is said,alot not all (ones who play) you don't actually know the physical accepts involed,
