Yup -- that is why you want to ask about board certification.

Even so -- there are some discplines that overlap. There are some procedures done by both plastic surgeons and dermatologists, for example. For some of these procedures, it might be hard to say which is better qualified.

Yeap. That doesn't necessarily mean they're not good at plastic surgery though. The main person from the show "Dr. 90210" did not do a plastics residency and is not board certified, yet he is apparently an excellent plastic surgeon.
