First u have to find 2 numbers that when multiply they give you 22 and when added or substracted they give you 9

so the numbers are 11 and -2

x^2+9x-22
(x-2) (x+11)

(x+11)(x-2)
x times x = x^2
11 times -2 = -22
11x - 2x = 9x

just check your work and math is simple

(x-2)(x+11)
