You have to save PS1 games on a PS1 memory card. They won't work with the PS2 memory cards because they use a different data system.

As stated by several others here, you can't save PS1 games on a PS2 memory card. You'll need to save those files on a PS1 memory card-- however, I've found that PS2 cards act as acceptable archives for PS1 saves; you CAN copy a PS1 file to a PS2 card and store it there.
I have a dedicated PS1 save file PS2 card, and it holds about a thousand files.

I believe you have to use a PS1 memory card. PS2 memory cards were designed specifically for PS2 games.

They won't. I have the same problem. I'm not so sure that the ps1 cards work in the ps2.
Good Luck
