The old saying in the corporate structure is: either up or out. You said no when they wanted a yes. They had already decided how you would serve them best and you denied them their game plan. They no longer need you, so they will make life miserable for you, until you quit. It's the old game that employers play to keep you off the unemployment roles.
My suggestion to you is to start looking for a new job. Contact a head hunter, they usually cost you nothing. Check the want adds, and go on-line. Do this while you are still employed, so you don't find yourself without a paycheck one day.
If you quit, the chances of unemployment compensation are little to none.

You need to talk with your management as to why you didn't want this job. Tell them you would be happy to accept other positions (again don't sell yourself short or accept positions you are uncomfortable with). Maybe they are trying to groom people to move on up in th ecompany and don't want to waste their time in promoting people who won't. Yes, companies can make people quit because then they don't have to pay unemployment. Don't do anything rash. If it is a company you like working for then it doesn't hurt to talk to the management.

I believe that you can still get unemployment if you quit but you might be penalized for about 6 weeks. It might even be different in your case since you are being bullied. The best thing to do is to call your unemployment office and find out if you would be eligible in your situation or if you would have to be penalized and wait the 6 weeks. Best of Luck!!!~

Are you in the UK? If so, of course you do, if you have been out of work for longer than a week then you are totally entitled to unemployment benefits as you still need to keep up on payments etc. I wouldn't recommend it though its not very much money although being a single mom you would also be enetitled to further benefits. Check UK government websites for more info

I believe you may be able to. My wife had a situation nearly the same as yours and was directed to the local employment office. Believe it or not they were very helpful. The results were unemployment benefits for some six months. So my suggestion is check with them. I truly hope I helped you some single mom. Good luck... Carl II

You have to be fired or laid off. You might be able to draw partial unemployment. If they cut your hours back you can probably file on the difference between what you work each week and 40 hours. Check with your local unemployment office.

I believe if you quit then you are not entitled to collect unemployment benefits. You'd have to be fired. They might be trying to get rid of you without having to fire you so you wouldn't be able to collect. So if you plan on collecting, it would be in your best interest to get fired or find a new job.

Thats really crappy that you're being treated that way but unfortunately, you CAN'T draw unemployment unless you've been fired or laid off. It sounds to me, like you should just move on and tell them to kiss it! But first, maybe you should consider calling the labor law to see what your options are!
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GRATEFUL DAY!!!

You can if they took hours and benefits away from you. Contact the unemployment office and see what you can do.

not really, even so, you are part time now. you will get much though.
But sometimes, if they fire you, they won't let you collect either. It has to be laid off and good reason. Simply firing won't make you collect either
