They are geniuses!
They made United 93 which is spectacular and cant wait for World Trade Center. The trailer is heart-breaking.

They already made United 93 and now this. I do think it is way too soon for them to make movies about these victims. :( I know that I personally lost 3 friends on 9-11 at the WTC and do NOT plan on watching this movie. :(

I saw United 93 based on the fact that Paul Greengrass directed it and made a movie about another very sensitive issue with 'Bloody Sunday'. For those who say this is about a hollywood cash grab, I don't see how that holds true for United 93. It starred no recognizable actors, no central hero 'defying the odds and blah blah blah', no cheesy score to play on emotions. It was a beautifully made speculation on what may have happened on that flight...end of story.
Oliver Stone's WTC on the other hand, stars big name actors, the (in)appropriate sentimental score and looks to play on the easiest of human emotions. That to my mind...is crap

I'm not sure what to think, honestly. I know for some it is a labor of love and patriotism, but I think it is still too early to bring fictionalized accounts or "creative non-fiction" to the table on something that impacted so many people's lives. Granted, I live near NYC and saw the smoke rising on my way to work, when I drove home, and the plume continue for several days.

I'm surprised the studios waited this long. In many high profile court cases, the movies have come out before the trilal was even over.

I like the fact that Oliver Stone's movie is about two of the firemen who survived. It's based on their true stories, so there's less of a chance of sensationalism. It's time to pull our heads out of our butts and accept that this did happen and try to learn something from it.

I think that they are inconsiderate bastards. but with the snake media and the "do-anything-for-a-dollar" hollywood movie producers these days, You kinda ALMOST want to give them credit for waiting this long before showing the US through this movie, just how far they are willing to go to pluck americas heart strings for money.
the key word in that last part is almost.

Surprised they haven't done it sooner. You can't stop them, but as long as it's done tastefully and with respect to the victims.
