Deep well, with electric pump

Its sediment that is coming off of your well bottom.

You should have a filter inline, so that it catches the sand. But, the sand is abrasive, so you can expect to have to replace the pump every so many years, as it will chew up the impeller after so many years of wear and abrasion from the sand.

You could lift the pump up about 10 feet or so, and it may stop the pump from lifting the sand from the bottom of the well, and just take water instead.

I wish you well..

More than likely your sand point is rusting away. The holes are getting large enough to let sand through. Because of the cost to pull the case and replace the point I would just put a whole house cloth filter on the supply line to the house.

I thought I had the answer until I saw you had a private well.

In subdivisions, wheneer they tap into the fresh water supply to hook up a new home, make a repair, whatever, some sand and dirt is gonna fall in. It's inevitable. If you share a well w/ others, this may be the case.

the sand comes from a underground river that caries it up the well into your pump , so if i was you id put a inline filter before the pump, so when the sand comes up it wont get in the house system

i dont know what your talking about but sand is used in the water treatment plants to clean our water. micro-sand is added just before the chlorine and stays there but is to small to see.
