I have a set of fine drawing pens ranging in different points from 0.7 to 0.25. The problem I have is using them effectively and correctly. What are some techniques they are good for and vice versa.

Drawing pens are used in illustrations (which, in general, uses more inks than charcoal or pencil) and in drawings. The different points allow you control of the thickness of the line, so as you use them to draw, you can choose a thicker point to emphasize a particular portion or to suggest shadow, and a fine point to suggest lighter areas. Try experimenting with them to find techniques you like best; I've used them to crosshatch and stipple.

Drawing pens have a fixed line width you are not going to get an 'expressive line' out of them. The best inking techniques for drawing pens include using the different widths to emulate depth (use thicker tips for near objects) and volume of the objects and the use of patterns (with dots and short lines) to create different visual textures.
