this is ur ex.. so i suggest to bring her either a cool teddy bear with (happy birthday) written on it, or just a bucket of roses or any kind of flowers she likes..

Are you still "friends" with the ex?
I honestly wouldn't buy a gift, but if there was a friendship salvaged out of the relationship and you want nothing more than the friendship you have, something simple, maybe a gift card to her favorite store, but don't over do it!
If you want her to remain an ex, perhaps you should just give her a card.

If she is an ex, I cannot understand why you are buying her a gift unless you had remained friends. If you are friends with her, buying flowers for her or some other personal gift may send her the wrong message, like that you want to go back to being more than friends. Stick to something simple like a CD, movie, or book she has been wanting.

Do you still maintain a friendship with the "ex"? and it's not just YOU who thinks so? Then get her something meaningful and lasting? Does she love a particular actor/actress? Then go on EBAY and get her an autographed picture or movie script of her favorite film! If this isn't the case, and you just want to get back into her life, then either buy her nothing or a simple card(not mushy) and mail it off.

Don't go all out buying her an expensive gift because she's not your girl anymore just give her something small and/or maybe a card to let her know you didn't forget it was her special day. She would like it and it probably would mean a lot to her.

If your freinds still get here something small but not too personal, get her something small like flowers or even just a nice card. Shes your EX dont go all out on something big.
