A lot of the time, the rodents shipped into pet stores are shipped by the breeding facilities together, males and females, and the store has to separate them out. This is why your hamster is pregnant. If inbreeding occured, you may notice genetic defects in the babies. Go to the pet store and ask if they will take the babies back, which they should because they sold the hamster to you, and apparently didnt tell you there was a chance shewas pregnant.

Many pet stores do not separate the males and females of their pets. This is bad pet keeping because many people accidently buy pregnant pets that they are not able to care for. If you are not able to keep her, do not give her back to the pet store as then they will just have 5-15 free hamsters and will probably be very happy that they didn't separate their hamsters. Try to find a small animal rescue in your area. try petfinder.com They have a listing of rescues. If you are going to keep her make sure you are well informed about caring for baby hamsters. And definately call the pet store and complain and ask them to put the males and females in separate cages.

Firstly I suspect it may have something to do with "The Hamsters and The Bees" but more likely it is because pet shops have a habit of keeping rodents of different sexes in the same spaces as they are waiting to sell them! I speak from experience as the first time I purchased 2 rats, I specified they both be of the same sex, male or female. The pet shop told me they were brothers, guess the shock I got when 3 weeks later I discovered they were sisters and one of them was with child. Good luck! Aaaandy

All hamsters sleep alot. They are nocturnal, which means they're up playing and eating and running while you're in bed. Pregnant hamsters actually tend to be more anxious and fussy, biting and building nests and obsessively cleaning.

Because the elephant screw it.. hehe.
Why worry? Is it not normal for hamsters to be pregnant?
Is it a sign of the end of the world? Does this mean armageddon?
