Whether abortion is a sin or not depends on the individual person. So, I would never presume to judge someone else's choice.
There are many complications (side effects are for drugs, not surgery). They include:
hemorrhage
infection
miscarriages
ectopic pregnancies
perforations
infertility
death
You can also have complications from anesthesia:
system toxicity
side effects from drugs administered
malignant hyperthermia
death

OK, first off, yes it's a sin. There are lots of people who are FOR abortion that would lie about that being a sin. But the bible clearly states, "Thou shalt not kill." Now if you're going to bring up the "concept of sin" anyway, then you MUST use the bible for reference. It defines sin. And sin is basically going against the WORD OF GOD. No matter how many people tell you otherwise, it is sin.
Secondly, if you have had an abortion, don't let yourself feel guilty. You didn't know, obviously, if you're asking now. And feeling guilty won't raise the dead.
Thirdly, yes you can sometimes loose the ability to carry a child after an abortion. Especially if you're young to begin with. But it is possible to still have a child. It depends on each individual case.
Hope this was just a curious question and you're not caught up in anything.
Take care;)

No one can tell you whether it is a sin or not... that is something YOU need to decide yourself. If you believe the Bible, and believe it is the Word of your God, then study it and decide what it means to you... because, in the end, whether anybody ELSE thinks it's a sin or not, the decision is YOURS to live with. Make sure you have a clear concsience either way. My personal opinion on the matter leads me to share these scriptural references with you, but there are others and you should look them up: Jeremiah 1.5; Psalm 22.9-10; Psalm 139.13-16.
If you end up having an abortion, at least get it done someplace that is reputable. As with any surgery, complications can arise during or afterwards that can be caused by unknown health issues or by infections. Some women DO have difficulty getting pregnant later on in life due to how scar tissue forms after the surgery. My best friend was a perfect example of that. She had an abortion while a teenager... she has had two beautiful children since then....... but both of her pregnancies were extremely complicated, requiring her to be on bedrest the last three months of each. AND, she had 9 miscarriages total, before and between those two pregnancies, in her attempt to have both children. It was very challenging for her emotionally.
Either way, if this is a decision you are considering, please get a lot of advice. I know you have a very tough choice ahead of you.
I wish you all the best.

There are various religions that would probably tell you it's a sin, but who is to say that they are right?
This risk of side effects/complications for such a procedure would usually be quite low. Eg small risk of infection. Not all terminations are surgical so those complications would not apply to all.
Some people feel depressed afterwards (but that can be as much to do with society trying to attach guilt to abortion, as the patients own feelings). Some people feel relieved.
Yes, you can have a baby after an abortion.
PS. I'm adding another comment a day or two later to say how DISGUSTED I am with those who are anti-abortion trying to exaggerate both the type and frequency of side -effects or surgical complications. Breast Cancer from having an abortion?! Get your facts right you idiots!! If you are opposed to abortion on religious grounds - fine - that's your perogative but don't LIE about the incidence of complications to try to scare people into making a decision one way or they other.

I said that i would never have an abortion. I grew up in a religious family, and was thought that that was really bad. Then I had my son and after that became fertile merdle. Now I look differently at abortions. You need to do what is best for you, not for anyone else who might have an opinion.
I even knew someone who got an abortion cause she was talked into it. Not good either. Keeping the baby is a great choice if it is your choice.

Abortion is not a sin. In fact it is a sin to allow a child to be born and suffer. And it is a sin to allow a mother to suffer. The bible is clear, God invented abortion in the form of miscarriage. And he did so for good reason. Sometimes it is better for society if a baby is not born.
And the fate of the baby is in the hands of either a loving God or a hateful god. The decision of which God is up to you. A loving God, like Christ, does not kill the fetus when abortion is performed. Christ takes the soul of the fetus and protects it from harm while allowing the abortion to occur.
A hateful god, such as the god of the pro life movement, kills the fetus along with the doctor. Then the pro life god bombs the clinic and harasses the women that have abortions. So it is up to you on which God you choose. Then you control if the abortion is murder or not.

Abortion a sin? Hardly.....
It is a choice that the mother has to make. It is a very difficult one, and should not be taken lightly.
Yes, women who have had abortions can have children later in life, no worries there, providing it was done correctly in a proper facility.
If you are facing the choice of having an abortion or not, I would hope that you seek an outside source of council to help you through all of the thought processes that make up this decision.
Stevo.

You'll get differing answers on this one. But my honest opinion is that yes, it is a sin. When a person has an abortion, they are killing a living person, even if it is only the size of an apple.
As for the side effects, depending on the doctor or the clinic, you could have some very serious complications. Many go well, but many are botched and go as far as causing the mother extreme health problems and, in some cases, death. This isn't a big percentage, obviously, but it is a possibility. The emotional side effects are what I've heard most about, though. You may get rid of the child, but you can never forget about him or her.

Technically, yes it is a sin (in gods eyes), but we are only human and sins wouldn't exist if we didn't commit them. As for side effects, after the procedure you will get your period and it will probably be heavier that your usual cycle. This is due to the sluffing off of the rest of your uterine lining that had built up around the embryo.
I had one when I was 19, the guy I was with was no good for me or the child that we could have put on this earth. I decided it was what was best for me and I didn't want to bring a child into the world to only have it have a horrible child hood. The guy was abusive both verbally and physically towards me and what was to say that he wouldn't be that way towards the child. I had the procedure done when I was only 6 weeks along. It was very scary for me but I have no regrets for doing it. I was in severe pain for the first 24 hours and slept a lot. Once the second day was upon me, the pain had subsided but I was still tired and need to rest. My body needed to recover.
I saw my GYN 2 weeks after the procedure where I was examined and had a wonderful visit because I was well and everything was back to normal. The Doc informed me that should have no problems getting pregnant again when I was ready and that was that.
I hope my info was helpful to you, and good luck with life.

Yes, its a sin. Its murder. Side effects are usually emotional loss and guilt over the abortion. Sometimes an abortion can be done in a way that accidently messes a woman up internally and she cannot have children later in life.

Anyone who has had an abortion can tell you that you'll regret it for the rest of your life. It IS murder - it's stifling an innocent life, and that is sin. There are Bible verses about God knowing us before we were born, so that life is a whole person. People who have abortions have nightmares and problems with depression. Many need counselling for a long time. That does not happen with any other surgery. Having a tooth pulled does not leave a person feeling guilty and with a need for counselling. Murdering an innocent baby does.
Please, please don't do it! If you can't keep the baby, give it up for adoption. There are so many people who can't have babies and want them desperately.
