OK so a thousand clicks, I'm pretty slow so we'll say 250 hours, that's only 10 1/2 days. I swim slower than that, so let's make it 12. Save me an Eccles cake!

I'm in Atherton about six miles away and in 1962 when I represented Lancashire in the all England cross country championship, where I finished 39th out of 550, I'd have said about 40 minutes. Now, as a knackered 59 year old I'd probably expire by the time I reached Tyldesley! (That would probably take me 40 minutes anyway!).

If I'd run to my car and drive to Manchester from Edinburgh, about 3 1/2 hours.

Well it would depend on the traffic as to how long the ambulance would take to reach you from a couple of hundred meters down my road .. Assuming all clear and with sirens blaring and not tooo much attention being paid to the law erm about 3 hours .. ;-) ..

If I could average 6 mph for around 8 hours a day, I'd probably be knocking on your door about 8am on Tuesday morning. Or would that be too early for you?

You will have medical backup available, I hope.

I'm with LeilaJoanne...Can't I get a train instead? You're a hard task master!

I can walk 8 miles in about 2 hours, so if you let me walk it would take me about 40 hours to get there (I'm in Brum)
