IF you're talking about the jagged edge along the sides of quilts, that's called "Prairie Points". Depending on the size you want, you take a square of fabric, fold it in half to make a triangle then in half again, ending up with all the cut (raw) edges on the same side. You then iron and repeat until you have enough points for the project you're working on.
