I'd say it'd be the phone call. It changes everything. Throughout this whole movie, they've been working up to being together, but that moment changes everything for good. Because even when Annis divorced his wife, it didn't permanently change anything, because he still wouldn't allow himself to be with "Jake."

I'd rather not think about that. There is a reason I wouldn't watch that movie. It isn't the hypocrasy of having two guys play homosexual lovers and then make a major issue of how they are hetrosexual.

One of them divorces his wife and the other thinks it means they can be together... his dreams are crushed when he's told by the other that it just cant be. They break up, never see each other again, and the guy who got his heart broken gets killed for being a gay cowboy.

the movie ends with jake gyl-i can't spell his last name-is dead, and heath ledger finds out when he calls jake's wife-played by anne hathaway. he imagines that jake was killed by gay bashers-like he recalled earlier in a story about 2 guys who ranched in heath's hometown. he goes to jake's family, and they tell him that jake was going to come back with heath and take care of jake's family farm, but then after several years, jake had met a new guy in texas that he was going to bring up there to take care of his family farm. heath is asked if he'd like to go upstairs and check-out jake's old room. he does, and finds that jake had put heath's old shirt-the one that had gotten bloody in the fight scene up on the mountain-the one that had disappeared-was tucked inside jake's shirt. he takes it out of the closet, and holds it to him, and smells it and cries. he takes it home with him, and it hangs in his bedroom. then heath's adult daughter comes by and tells him that she's getting married, and she wants him at her wedding. that's pretty much it.
