"Save As" is used when initially saving and when you want to give your document a title. "Save" is the override of the original document with your progress. It doesn't give you the constant option of changing the title.

The only difference is that with save as you can change the name of the file you want to save it under. Otherwise both ways save the document.

If you are modifying a saved document, and wish to rename it or save the changes to make it differ from the original document, you would use "save as." "Save" will simply save the changes in the current document.

Not a whole lot. If you're saving a document for the first time, either one will make you choose a name for your document. But, if you're just saving changes to a document, it's easier to just hit "save," unless you want to save changes under a different name, in which case, hit "save as."

"Save" would save the document with the current name, which you can see by look at the bar at the very top of your screen. "Save as" will save the document under a new name that is provided by you.

When you use Save it overwrites the current file. When you use Save As it saves the document as another file.

If it's a new file, there's not really any difference. If you are changing an existing file, then using "save as" creates another copy of the file with the changes on it. Using "save" overwrites the existing file.
