I liked the special effects but I felt the story was awful.
Superman and Kent show up on the same day after 5 years and no one at the Daily Planet can figure this out? Come on.
In the beginning of the film Superman can barely save a crashing air plane but at the end of the film he can lift a continent out of the ocean and carry it off into space even though it is loaded with Kryptonite....Come on! I could go on, but you get the point.

Yep. He did a direct continuation of superman cannon from 1978. AND he ignored the existence of the last 2 films, which were crap. THIS is the superman I grew up with. It was an excellent effort, and I am looking forward to more by Mr. Singer and company. The people who sh*t-housed the movie, know NOTHING about superman and the mythos. I've been a fan since I was a little kid. This is the big, blue boyscout I enjoyed in my youth. Long live Superman!!!

I liked it a lot. I didn't know about Brandon Routh at first, but the first time that I saw him fly, I was sold. Kate Bosworth did just fine as Lois Lane, Kevin Spacey was good as Lex Luthor, the henchman did their jobs, they were henchmen. The special effects were great, especially Superman's different powers. And the story was good.

I find that most people who didn't like the movie too much nitpicked on how Kate Bosworth was younger than Margo Kidder from the second film, or how the henchmen didn't have lines (which amazes me). Or they compared this movie to the ones that were made in the 80's.

To me, it was good enough to invoke feelings of nostalgia. I didn't expect, nor want it to be exactly like the 80's version.

I was prepared to like it. I tend to be easier than most critics, who seemed to like it.

I don't know - Superman - it's been done. This version didn't bring anything new to the table. O.k., so Lois Lane has a kid - gee it's Lois Lane, so who's kid could it be? And the kid is sickly - is that whimsy or a red herring?

I think we didn't get enough Clark Kent. All he did was stand around and change into Superman.

Lex was good - I think Kevin Spacey plays evil and nasty better than Gene Hackman did (and I think Hackman is a top notch actor). When he rams the kriptonite into Superman you think he could kill him. That's pretty strong for a superhero event movie.

The new Superman, btw is quite delicious - the man is almost perfect. I whispered to my daughter in the theatre - "now that's man - pretty!"

Kate Bosworth seemed too soft as Lois. Remember, Lois always had an edge trying to get into "a man's world" on her own merit. Now she's nothing special away from winning the Pulitzer.

Yeah, I tried, but I was disappointed.

Brandon Routh played a great Superman and reminded me a lot of Christopher Reeves

Kevin Spacey played a better Lex Luthor than Gene Hackman.

Kate Bosworth was not a very good Lois Lane I thought Margot Kidder played her better.

all in all I thought the movie was very good. I thought Kevin played Lex much more ruthless like he is in the comic books.

Haven't seen it. BUT I'm not going to watch it. It just seems like one of those movies that suck but was made just so you can watch it once and see how bad it was but still have PAID.

I enjoyed it. However, I paid extra for the imax 3d experience, and although cool, wasn't really worth it.
