You can use avi movies as source for shockwave or flash content. Create a shockwave/flash movie from the avi and insert that into a webpage.

You can also get applications to reduce the size of the file involved (typically by compression and reduction of picture quality), and link to it in your html codes (a href=mymovie.avi). The user would click on the link and their media player would open once its downloaded on their pc.

No. AVI is a movie format that has nothing in common with HTML, which is just plain text! You would write HTML to embed the movie in the web page but you would still need the AVI file to be on a server - in other words, available to visitors to the web page for download.

You will have to look at ways of reducing the size of the file, either with a loss of quality or by compressing it in another format.

I don't know of a program that will convert it and even if it could, it would still take the same amount of time to load. The best way to upload a file is to join Limewire.com and ensure the file is in the shared folder - whoever is trying to download it can then go to Limewire and download from you and everybody else that has it.

You want to transcode AVI to FLV or flash video format first.
Use Riva FLV Encoder. It's free. Get it here -
