hello, i was wondering if re-booting my computer is the same as turning it off completely and turning it back on? does re-booting refresh the computer? is it safe to leave my computer on all night and all the time? should i leave it on hibernate? thanks

There's the two concepts of a 'cold' reboot and a 'warm' reboot.

Warm may keep things in memory and maybe it doesn't check the BIOS the 2nd time. It definitely does not do a POST (Power On Self Test)

When I really get in trouble with an Operating system, I like to do a cold reboot.

Hibernate brings you back to your last desktop / application status. There's pros and cons as to leaving your computer on all night. That's a whole other discussion.

Yes rebooting a system refreshes it.You can also keep it on all the time but in Hibernate as it saves the electricity and the laptop does crashes after a long period. You should turn it off directly as you will lose some unsaved data or some processes going on, when it is on will not be properly stopped..So be carefull wih it as "Caring things can increase the life of it"

doing either way refreshes the computer, if it was a desktop pc i could leave it turned-on the whole night with the monitor turned-off
but since it's a laptop, i would turn it off and not let it sleep/hibernate cuz sumtyms laptops are lyk people, if you wake them up on the middle of their sleep, they cant just think and act right, my laptop runs really slow wenever it's in hibernate-mode so i suggest you turn it off.

I would turn your computer off. That way it won't be damaged by a large power surge and you are saving electricity.
