When I was 8 or 9 my neighbors grandson would come play with me and we would climb up a tree and lay on the branches in the shade of the branches and chat........sometimes mom would bring Kool-Aid out to us or we'd go over the fence to his grandparents house and pick strawberries
(sigh those were the days!)

I remember there was one Christmas that my family had fallen on hard times and I was gonna ask for a bike. This was 1968 and to have a bike was a big thing. About the time I was going to ask for it my parents sat us down and explained to us there may not be much for Christmas so I didn't ask for one. To my surprise when I got up on Christmas morning I had my bike. I thought that was the most wonderful thing ever. It may not seem like much but it is just something that sticks out in my mind. My how things have changed. A bike for Christmas now would be a long way from what a child would ask for. LOL.

I think my happiest memory is when I was a kid of about five or six and I was playing outside at friends house at the end of the street. I remember my dad riding up on his bike and he picked me up and put me in the child's seat on the back of the bike. I just remember how warm he was when I laid my head on his back. He always made me feel special and safe. I was sad when we finally got to my house! I am truly a daddy's girl.

I am Roman Catholic, and my best memory is the day of my First Communion, the chapel, the flowers, the music, my dress, my mother so happy and with tears in her eyes, the pictures, after a small breakfast with relatives and some friends. This day was 45 years ago, a I still remember it, like it was yesterday, and still makes me feel so full of joy and grateful

Playing in the yard and not having to worry. Not having my mom checking on me every two seconds like I do with my kids. Climbing to the top of the plowed snow piles and pretending I was the queen of the world. Or pretending to build igloos in them with my siblings.
Playing in the mud...

I remember being able to feel so comfortable outside-and though I know they checked on us I do not remember my parents having to worry about us like I do my kids when they are outside. Things sure have changed.
