Well, if they didn't go around raping, murdering and then burning 14 year olds along with her 5 year old brother and family member's they would not be in the press would they? Especially when after the incident (there are already 19 convicted in the States) 2 of the members of their Regiment were captured, tortured and beheaded!!
It needs to be in the press to remind you and them, they don't have a license to murder!! They sure aren't getting the message from their generals!! How many times have they been told you can't do that???
"Iraq is free of rape rooms and torture chambers."

Because of hardcore, knee-jerk, liberal Democrat Bush-haters like you.
I'm being serious. Who do you think is writing and printing all these anti-America, anti-servicemen stories? I'll give you a hint: it ain't Rush Limbaugh!
(disclaimer - I'm just making a point here, and am in no way a fan of Rush Limbaugh)
Who stands to gain, when American troops are dragged through the mud? See, the more atrocity stories get out, the worse we look, and the further down go the president's approval ratings - therefore, dragging the ratings of all his Republican support with him.
You don't have to be for the war, that's not what I'm saying. Nor am I suggesting that there's anything wrong with speaking against it. But I have yet to hear a speech by Teddy Kennedy that wasn't purely and virulently anti-American.
And just for your enjoyment, it may interest you that the Americans have helped to open thousands of clinics, hospitals, schools, sports and community centers, etc, all over Iraq. We have recruited, trained and equipped entire police forces and military services. And we have provided medical assistance to thousands upon thousands of Iraqis, regardless of their condition or persuasion (even insurgents can get American medical assistance from the US Army in Iraq).
Also, the dreaded Halliburton company that you liberals hate so much, along with dozens of other American companies doing business in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East, has hired many, many Iraqis who were so badly in need of work, and have created opportunities for private businesses all over the country. Thousands of Iraqis have an income IN IRAQ right now, because of the companies that you've probably condemned as "war profiteers" just for being there.
I know there's a lot more that needs to be done, but there's your answer. It's not propaganda, and it's not coming from a right-winger. What you do with the information is up to you.

First of all, I believe that our Press is neutral- free from political influence.
Second, Yes, we see on news about the good work you as US military personnel have done for us: Transforming a country from Autocracy to Democracy would be impossible without all of you fighting overseas, the Streets in Baghdad would kill tons of Iraqi civilians if about 2,600 of our Brothers and Sisters hadn't been killed; other middle east countries could have been bombed if Saddam Hussein's government hadn't collapsed... all these happened because of your hard work. BUT, it is also important that to keep our military discipline, so, in simple words, bad deeds must be punished; and us taxpayers have the right to be told that even a small number of our military Taxpayees have problems.
My point is that the following:
1) I dont' believe in the existence of "Bad Press" in US (unless you're talking about critics, which are necessary since we have the Freedom of Speech);
2) Our US military is doing a Tremendous job both overseas and at home. Their Sacrifice is most honorable;
3) The Wrongdoings of our military personnels need to be reported so their punishment can warn those who're even thinking about murdering someone else can think about the consequence. Just to keep our Military Strong and Disciplined.

Yeah, it's too bad the sacrifices soldiers make for their country doesn't sell the consumer goods advertisers pay television stations for.
I destroyed someone the other day who posted some seriously naive, narrow-minded $h!t about soldiers and war, and a soldier in Iraq emailed me and thanked me for considering what they go through.
It was real, yo. He was straight up and genuine, and I just hit him back to be safe. But he said he was scared, you know? Like, they could die anytime-- and they might have to kill people, you know?
Anyway, he's out there and paying attention, and I know there are more, so that made me feel good.
There's so much more to it than anyone really wants to get into. But I wholeheartedly agree with you.

To be fair the media is just reporting the news, just because a few of our solders are out of control does not mean that there are many others that are doing their jobs in a professional manner but I feel that these atrocities need to be reported, people really need to know what war is all about. Baby's die in war. Woman die in war and old men die in war. We have been real lucky that war has not happened on U.S. soil since the civil war however most people think that war just kills solders. If the media reports these things then maybe people will come to grip what war really means.

I'm a hard core Vietnam Vet, and I don't see where out troops are getting bad press except for the ones that does bad things.
I'm not for the war or any other war, but it's do it now or loose lots more lives later on when we'll have no choice, Gee we already lost 3000+ lives in 1 hour.....

Yes we are, and yes we should hear about it. But that's not what makes the news. If you would like to see some nice pics taken of soldiers in Iraq doing something GOOD, email me (my email addy uses this ID with @yahoo.com), and I will send you pictures.
And there are more good soldiers than bad, it's just that which headline would sell better:
"Soldier gets hug from young Iraqi girl"
or
"Group of soldiers accused of raping young Iraqi girl"
Or how about this?
"Sergeant awarded for heroism: Whole squad survived attack"
or
"Iraqi family murdered near checkpoint"
It's what sells. And the good things happening in Iraq don't sell. It's lucky for me I get another perspective...our friends are there now, and my husband is US Army.

Democrat Don
Depends on what you call good.
What I don't call good is to send some one to war and shoot them in the back. Whether they should be there or not is a totally different story. The fact is they are there. We did not send them to a tea party. When ones life is on the line I would say anything to survive goes.
It would be interesting to be able to go back in time lets say July 1943 and have some bleeding heart Journalist say some of the things they are saying now. I wonder what would have happened to them.

Maybe they aren't doing any???
Or, how about the fact that the news is there to inform, and people in power committing crimes is "good" news.
People don't read the newspaper or watch news programs to see "happy warm fuzzy fluff" pieces, they do it to be informed of the bad that's occurring in the world.
