If you have a tub that can withstand abrasives, that is the best way to remove soap scum, grit and grime (trust me, years of experience trying all sorts of things) I use the cheap-ol' Comet.. I think it's about $1.00 a can and it lasts for months... abrasives grip the grime and remove it... some "synthetic" materials can't tollerate abrasives though so you'd have to know your tub.

Nothing can beat the new "magic erasers" like the one by Mr. Clean. It doesn't add any artificial smell though.

As for mildew, I had a lot on the caulk in the tub. Someone recommended the Clorox bleach pen, which I tried but it didn't work. Then I tried it again but left it on overnight, and holy ****! It was like recaulking! I didn't even have to scrub - the next morning, the mildew was COMPLETELY gone.

there are lots of products out there.
I just cleaned my shower and used Mildex, it's a mildew remover which contains detergents and bleach. Works beautifully, but irritating to breathe and doesn't smell good.
To remove soap scum, use Tilex Soap scum remover. Use "Soft Scrub" on the bathtub.
YOu can remove really stubborn mold spots on the grout between the tiles with the Clorox Bleach Pen, this gives you a lot of accuracy.
Scrub tiles & grout with a scotch pad/sponge, don't press too hard or you may damage the tiles & grout.
Don't use Brillo or steel wool pads! you'll scratch the porcelain!

I use Lysol Mildew Remover With Bleach. It stinks, but it is the best for removing mildew and soap scum. You just spray it and leave it on, you won't even have to scrub. Just rinse it later. (The Lysol company claims that it has a clean, fresh scent, but my nose tells me differently.) I don't think anything that removes mildew is going to smell good.

"Clean Shower" by Arm and Hammer. Even if your shower is bad it will, with regular use, clean it up and if you use it after every bath/shower it will keep it clean and I really like the smell of it better than any others I have tried. I have used it for five years now and have never had to scrub the shower. It really is awsome.

Lime away is useful, but the best way to get rid of soap scum is to use Tide laundry soap and clean with a brush until all gone. Then when you have that sparkly perky shower tub looking pretty never use soap again. Use body wash shampoo instead it never leaves soap scum:)

Spray and Shine. It works like a charm. Just spray it on after a bath or shower, and that's all there is to it!
It even keeps the glass walls of the shower sparkling, with no scrubbing or rubbing.
