Because you are obviously a very well brought up young man who has respect for your fellow hooman beans. You are ncie and polite enough to do the right thing no matter how much you would rather do something else. (And you know that you would be the one to get into trouble if you kicked someone in the eye who actually deserved it!)

Because it's easier, has no consequences and yet it may fill you with resentment. Conflict externally is something people tend to avoid - in doing so, we tend to increase internal conflict - which to my way of thinking is often subtle and dificult to resolve.

It's like I was told, the people you despise, you should always be friendly and smile at them because that eats them up. You have to kill them with kindness and keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.
