Jamaica is one of the best country the hotels sre good i shud say fantastic. Never listen to people wh say it is dirty jamaicas dirty areas are in the ghetto of course that would be obviously barbage would be there. But the city is wonderful imagine a tropical place that has very cool large cities. Jamaica is just wonderful. The people are of course very good looking how do I know I live in Jamaica. (Im just too lucky) In the summer spring and winter we have the most tourist visits in the ENTIRE caribbean. That shows that people just love Jamaica.

From a Jamaican that was born and raised in jamaica. Yes Jamaica is a beautiful country with a lot of beautiful people. Not everyone was made beautiful so there are gonna be some not so beautiful people there also. Also, like most countries, Jamaica has problems llike unemployment and crime. But, when you go to Jamaica I promise you you will have a good time, just relax and enjoy the island withit's beaches beautiful scenery and it's people. Jamaicans are funny and they "will" make you laugh. Also we are notorious for having a good time. So go to Jamaica and enjoy yourself.

Lived there. Been there. Will go back.
It's certainly beautiful, all around. The people are generally friendly. The food is glorious. The beaches fantastic (particularly on the western side), BUT...
Jamaica got the US penchant for guns and there are lots of gangs running around shooting people, and there are many murders there every year (it's a country of 3 million). Once British, it's been independent since 1962. They use a currency, the Jamaican dollar that's worth less than 2 cents, so $100 of your dollars will be around 7000 of their dollars. Split between greatly wealthy tourists, a small middle class, and a vast poor class. I'd stay clear away from Kingston and surrounding areas, Like Spanish Town, and head for Montego Bay (which also has a high crime rate), Negril, and other tourist spots, which are generally well-protected from the darker elements, or head to the south, like Manchester Parish and the capital, Mandeville, high up in the cool mountains (2-3000 ft) and pretty safe and developed.

I spent 10 days in Jamaica for my honeymoon and loved every minute of it. Although we never left our hotel, I have heard too many bad things about the locals. Some friends of ours left the hotel for a shopping excursion and they witnessed a local guy get attacked by another guy with a machette!! All in all I would go back, I loved it, the people that work for the hotels/resorts were very friendly.

There are two Jamaica's. There's tourist Jamaica, like Montego Bay, where it's the beautiful island paradise and then there's non-tourist Jamaica, like Kingston, where people are jobless and the IMF is reaming the country with loan payments.
Your language in this question sounds like you're a kid so I'll save you the rest of the details. But please note, there are all types of people everywhere.

Think before you ask. If you were Jamaican and if somebody asks you the same question, how would you respond ?
Have some minimum courtesy towards fellow human-beings.

jamaica is beautiful but most people that live there are extremely poor. tourism is their life-blood so they are quite gracious to visitors. as long as you stay at the resorts and don't wonder away, you'll love your trip. and watch out for locals selling "ganja" on the beach!
i vacationed there in february, 2005 and loved it. we stayed at the Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay, which is an all-inclusive resort. the weather was great, the food was delicious and rum was......relaxing!

Jamaica is acutally a very dirty country. I visited there a few years ago and stayed at a resort. The resort was absolutely breath taking, but once we took a visit into the city it was very dirty and the people try to sell you things off the street. As long as you stay at a resort you'll be fine
