How would anyone here know? Ask yourself 1) Have you had unprotected sex? If so, then 2) Have you missed or is your period late? And finally, 3) GO GET A HOME PREGNANCY TEST!

OK, let me add a fourth step then: 4) If you have any doubt at all, go see your OBGYN.

What amazes me the most is that, with the Internet right there in front people, why they come here and ask a question and then have people go find it for them on the web. Try a google search on pregnancy symptoms people! lol

I think it's more of an attention thing. If they really wanted to know if they were pregnant, then they would get a test or see a doctor.

The people who have more logical thought, would at least check out past related yahoo questions, with the corresponding answers. Considering the fact that this same question is asked over and over every 15 seconds on yahoo...you'd really think one person would have enough common sense to look them up.

There are many many wonderful websites on the internet that give you surveys, to determine whether or not you may be pregnant. And they always ask "did you have unprotected sex" and "did you miss your period"

I no longer waste my time on such ridiculous questions.

But thanks for asking this one. I now know that I'm not the only logical person on here, sick of idiots.

Sometimes your home pregnancy test will come out negative and you are really pregnant. The best thing to do is go to the doctor and get a blood test to reveal the truth. Some people are on birth control and others use condoms and neither of these are 100% effective. Some women miss their periods and they are not pregnant. Women have unique bodies!

If your body is doing something different and you hadn't been expecting a pregnancy you would not ask ANYONE except your docotor if you could be? Not even someone who has been pregnant when you have not been? Or maybe they are excited or scared thinking that they might be but feel it is too early to go to the doctor and they want to share it with someone first and get some feedback before they jump head long into planning for their pregnacy and parenthood or maybe they want to get some encouragment from other WOMEN who have been in their boat so they can get their mind around it before they find out for sure from a doctor what is going on. Both when I was pregnant with my daughter and now my son I asked people close to me before asking a doctor or even taking a test (so I wouldn't get my hopes up and then dashed), but not all people have someone close to them that they can talk to. There are many reasons and as women who may have questions of our own or who have been pregnant or are or even men who have had women in there lives to be, we should try to help them out as much as we can. Of couse, direct them to the doctor or a test, but we should be reasuring and supportive. Why set out to be rude?

Yes. There is that period of time between conception and the positive pregnancy test that is torture for people that want to be or could be pregnant. I guess after you run out of money from buying a dozen very expensive home pregnancy tests this is the only option left.

Wishful thinking. You have no idea what it is like to wait in hope for those last few days of the month. Imagine, you hunger for child, but you only get 12 tries a year!
So you clutch at straws. Sometimes when you want it bad enough you think if someone tells me I'm pregnant today then I probably am.

That is true what you wrote. I guess probably why they do it is because they may be sitting at home nervous or excited and never been pregnant before. Every pregnancy is different and most 1st timers don't know about the brownish discharge which they call spotting. That will scare her if she doens't know it happens all the time. I kind of understand them asking about the symptoms.

They are looking for support from complete strangers. I personally would go buy a test. Did you know the Dollar Tree even sells them now for a buck???

Since you're the genius on the subject, maybe you can help me. Here is my scenario: I had unprotected sex three weeks ago, have not had my period since, and the pregnancy test showed positive. Please tell me if this means I'm pregnant!

they just want to know if what they are thinking makes sense. It's a reassurance thing before they test that they aren't wasting their time by testing. I get your point though.

take a look at the link pmpl
