Business people read financial reports to project or predict the financial standing of their business or businesses they plan on investing into. Knowing the financial standing they can decide whether a certain line of their product is profitable or not, how much money is needed for the next few months, if the need to loan, release dividends, whether to keep the business moving or go file bankruptcy, whether to invest in this company, etc.
