Get a dish cloth and put your finger in the middle of it to make a mitten like finger...... put some Fairy liquid on the tip of your finger as much as you want....... using your silicon gum squirt it in between the bath and wall.
Then with your new fairy liquid finger press down firmly and slide your finger across the gum this will spread it evenly and create the perfect seal you will then be able to remove any excess gum before it sets. do this in small 1ft long stages

fill the bath, put masking-tape around bath & around wall about 1/4 inch from wall apply silicone using wet finger to smooth silicone work your way around bath, leave for 30 mins remove tapetop or bottom first (not both together) done
if you remove tape when silicone is dry you will get an uneven edge

Hitman has a good answer.
Another way is to cut off the Tip Straight with about a 1/4 inch hole. Slowly squeeze your Trigger and hold Tube at an angle and push Forward as you apply the Silicone. Try on something to test and you will see what I say. BUT, Hitman is good too.

you'd need a man for that ;)

It takes practice to get it looking ok, and it's a nightmare to remove if you get it wrong.
It's best to fill the bath up, and keep it full till the silicone has dried.
you could put some masking tape down first, but it's not ideal.
Sorry dear :)

you get the sillicone in a long tube and you need aspecial cage to squeeze it out- get it from b & q- then its like icing a cake you put it in the corner beteen bath and tiles and squeexe slowly- then heres the trick you get the back of a spoon and drag it over the sillicone making it clean and pushing it right into the corner
advice- wear gloves- sillicon burns the skin
(by the way I am a girl- are you impressed- very domesticated!)

Work slowly and carefully AND CLEAN UP AS YOU GO! The wet cloth round the finger with some washing up liquid on is a good tip - but I don't really think it needs to be FAIRY liquid.... ;o)
