Why did my dog do this?

I have a 7 year old chiuahuah and i my 12 year old dog just died of natural causes of being old. And i had a 3 month old jack russel die of parvo. They died just weeks apart from each other, and both times my chi was barking at something me and my husband could not see. And she hasnt done this sense. We looked every where and could not find anything she was barking at and she was looking at something and it was creeping me out. She always barks at strangers an noises, but this time there were no noise or stranger. But shes never done this before, and shes not mental, shes actually a very smart dog. Can anyone truthfully tell me why she done this? Please dont be sarcastic, i just need some answers.

Your Chihuahua saw the spirits of your other dogs leave their bodies, simple as that. That is one of the main reasons Witches(or anyone else who knows) have familiars, to warn and inform when spirits are nearby.
Without actually being there myself, I can only tell you this from my own experience. There is always the possibility that she did hear some ambient noise you didn't, but from your description if accurate, then it appears to me she saw what I said. She was obviously incredibly close to those other two dogs and as you say, must be very intelligent!
I'm sorry for yours and the Chihuahua's loss, but death is not the end, not even for 'lesser' animals! Take good care of your remaining old friend, as I'm sure you do!

i don't know if theres truth behind this, but i have been told long ago, that dogs can see spirits. I had a dog do the same thing once. kado, a Rottewieler, had started barking like mad one day in outr basement of our newly purchased home. I had went downstairs to see what the commotion was, and here she was staring at a blank wall barking with all her hair standing on end.

Two things are possible...

1)the ghost theory (the previous owners had lost thier lives in seperate auto accidents)

2) it's more than likely that since it was a totally empty room, she simply heard a sound reflection off the walls which freaked her out.

Either way, she never liked that particular room much, and wouldn't go into it unless me or my ex was in there, and even then she wouldn't stay long, prefering to stay upstairs.

i dont know, but my dog does this sometimes too. I dont have any dogs that died, but my dog does bark for no reasons. For example, my room used to be my grandpa's room and he passed away about 4 years ago, everytime my dog goes in my room, she barks at the closet, When i let her into the living room she barks at the fan. One time, she barked at the floor and started smelling a little corner that was covered by the tv, and 5 minutes later, there was a dead mouse. Many times, she would wake up like at 3:00 or 5:00 in the morning and start whining or crying. I don't know what it is, but maybe she was just curious, i dont know. Whatever it is, there's a reason for your dog to bark, its curious, or it just senses something is wrong. Maybe its just trying to protect you. Dont worry.

It is a well-known fact that animals retain keen senses that humans no longer have. There are dogs that can be trained to sense when a person with epilepsy is about to have a seizure and can warn that person so they have time to take safety measures. There are cadaver dogs, trained to aid law enforcement in finding the bodies of victims of crime. So I think it is not at all far-fetched to believe that your little chihuahua was able to sense the approaching demise of her mates, and she was just trying to tell you. I am sorry for your losses, and I'm sure you are giving your chi extra love and attention right now because she has suffered too.

I think that your dog maybe picking up something...

Seriously. Consider this: Human beings have a hearing range of 20hz to 20khz. Dogs? 10hz to 30khz (a SIGNIFICANTly larger range of hearing!). Humans have 5 MILLION scent receptors in their nose. Compare that to 250 MILLION scent receptors in the average dog.

That said, when you, as a human, say there was no noise and no stranger, how do you know that your dog didn't hear something crawling between the walls or smell someone (or another animal) outside -that was beyond your senses?

To be honest with u, i dont' know, but, people say that dogs can see ghost, it's creepy, anyways, i know what you mean by one dog dying and then the next one too. My sister had two dogs, and one of them died 'cuz she had a worm, about 2 days later the other dog died too, and she was not sick or anything, as soon as the first dog died she got sick, it was so weird! So sad, i think that she missed the other company and she just gave up...

In fact dogs have really great hearing, any number of things could have set her off, to you it could look like she is staring at something not there, but she could be staring at the direction a scent or a sound is coming from and barkin, nothing odd about this behavior

if you had super hearing, you might look kinda funny sometimes too

i believe you.
i really believe animals can feel forces, bad people, dangerous situations.
i believe animals know thing are happening when we don't, like earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes.
i think your dog knew these others were dying and was trying to tell you. perhaps your dog could see the souls of the other dogs leaving or the force that was taking them.
we have chihuahuas and they are really super smart dogs.

my chihuahua does the same thing.i think Chihuahua's know when something has died or wrong.cause we had bought another dog and my chihuahua was just barking at it like crazy.and wouldn't sniff it or touch it.we took it to the vet and found out it had a stomach full of worms when we bought it.my dog stopped barking ever since.

I think you know the answer here.Your dog saw the angel of death coming near her friends.Animals see things we refuse to see. I'm sorry for you loss.Parvo is a horrible disease.And to lose a long time friend hurts.Please be sure you Chi gets her shots.I'm not being sarcastic here,I promise.
