If I were you, I would take a biotechnology class. Also see if your university offer any special topic courses that isn't offered every year or every semester.

For ex. my school just offered two courses. One was research in genetic engineering and the other was bio informatics. Both focused on the microbial world.

Also classes like cell biology and genetics.

Microbiology. If u want to know about the latest stuff done with the use of microbes (by manipulating their genes)then i suggest Microbial Biotechnology.
Or if u want to know the use of microbes in industries it would be Industrial Microbiology.
If u want to study bacteria and virus and know more about the diseases they cause then U've gotta take Medical microbiology.
Or if ur interest concerns microbes and the environment -
Enviromental Microbiology.

Check your biology department at your high school or college for microbiology courses. Check your local library for microbiology books. I was a microbiologist , it is a fascinating world of microbes!

Biology, Chemistry, Botany pretty much any science classes...especially Botany (the study of plant life)
